Moisture System has received one of its biggest updates yet for Farming Simulator 25. Version 2.0.0.3 was released through the official ModHub on August 14, expanding the modification far beyond a simple moisture indicator.

The mod can now control regional weather, connect crop moisture with both yield and quality, simulate grain drying and make unprotected bales or ground piles react to rain.

Regional Weather Profiles Come to FS25

The updated Moisture System can now control the weather experienced during a savegame. Players can select a profile matching their chosen farming region through the game settings.

Many maps receive an appropriate default profile automatically. Weather patterns include seasonal changes and yearly variation, meaning that every season may develop differently.

The duration of weather periods also scales with the selected number of days per month. This should make forecasts more useful whether a player uses short one-day months or runs a slower, long-term save.

Custom weather profiles can also be created using instructions provided by the developer.

Moisture Now Affects Yield and Quality

Previously, moisture was primarily connected with crop quality. Version 2 expands the system by allowing it to influence the amount harvested as well.

Crops harvested when they are excessively dry can produce a smaller yield. Wetter crops may provide more material but receive a lower quality grade, reducing their selling price or creating additional drying costs.

Every supported crop has its own optimal moisture range and quality-based price levels. This makes harvest timing a much more important decision.

Waiting for better conditions may improve the final result, but a change in weather can also make the situation worse. Players must balance yield, quality and the risk of leaving crops in the field for too long.

New Weather and Moisture Information

The previous moisture calendar has been replaced with a more detailed weather information screen. It displays seasonal forecasts and historical weather data for the selected region.

A separate Moisture Impact view shows how different moisture levels affect the expected yield and quality of each crop. Charts can now be inspected with the mouse to display exact values.

The current grade of harvested material is also shown when it is stored inside a vehicle or silo. This makes it easier to decide whether the crop should be sold immediately, stored or dried.

The main Moisture System menu can be opened with Shift + M.

Grain Drying Is Easier to Control

Grain drying is now started directly through the Moisture System menu instead of requiring the player to stand near a silo and press a separate key.

This change avoids compatibility problems with certain silo designs and provides more information before the process begins.

Drying reduces the moisture level over time and helps prevent quality loss during storage. Its cost depends on the amount of material being processed, but it can be cheaper than selling wet crops and accepting a reduced price.

The update also fixes an issue that could prevent grain drying from starting correctly in multiplayer.

Rain Can Damage Bales and Ground Piles

Moisture System also changes how grass, straw, hay and bales react to the environment.

Material left outdoors accumulates exposure to rain and may gradually begin to rot. Hay can turn back into grass when it becomes too wet, while unprotected bales can lose part of their volume over time.

The latest update makes this process less aggressive than before. Materials now take longer to begin rotting and deteriorate more slowly, giving players more time to react.

Shelters, wrapping and proper storage remain important for protecting harvested material.

Multiplayer and Performance Improvements

Version 2.0.0.3 contains several multiplayer and optimization changes.

Weather calculations affecting ground piles have been optimized for lower-end computers, while existing crops from saves created before installing the mod are assigned ideal moisture and full quality when first detected.

Drying charges are no longer incorrectly applied when crops are deposited into a selling station owned by the player. Large amounts of grain should also dry at a more practical rate.

Availability and Compatibility

Moisture System 2.0.0.3 was created by Ozz and is available through the official Farming Simulator ModHub.

The mod is currently released for PC and Mac. Because it uses advanced scripts, it is not available for PlayStation or Xbox.

Players should also note that Moisture System is not compatible with NonStopCrop or RealisticWeather. Existing saves should be backed up before introducing a major gameplay modification.

Is Moisture System Worth Installing?

For players looking for more realism, Moisture System now feels closer to a complete farming overhaul than a small gameplay script.

Weather influences when work can be performed, moisture changes both harvest size and value, grain may require drying and poor storage decisions can cause real losses.

Casual players may find the additional management unnecessary. However, realistic and long-term FS25 farms receive a much deeper system where weather forecasts and harvest timing finally have meaningful financial consequences.
